Azealia Banks - 1991 (EP)

We see this new artist making her way in the industry, after already conquering Europe, she makes her forray into the music in the US with her debut EP "1991". My friend told me about Mrs. Banks, so I checked out 212. After listening to it, I was hooked. I bought the EP, when it came out and i really enjoyed it. It blends rap and electronic really well. Please give her a chance. I do like both Nicki Minaj and Azealia Banks, so I am not gonna choose a side. But there is something undeniably fresh about Azealia that she brings to the table.

We start out with 1991, a house kind of song. You hear a bustling coffee shop, then you transition into her voice. Talking about the older times and about other things. Then you go into Van Vogue, a track about fashion. This song has a jungle kind of theme to it, I really like it. It also showcases some real vocals from her. Then you go into the smashing 212, the pounding beats and bass. This song stands out, i really like this and it is my favorite. It does have some trash talk, but revolves around her life in New York. Then we polish off with Liquorice, a song about guys and sex. I like this one too. A catchy chorus and fun little beat.

Overall, Azealia Banks is marking her territory with her new EP. She does really well with blending electro and rap beats.
